The Dental Chairside Assistant diploma program at the National Academy of Health and Business is designed to provide students with an excellent grasp of the range of duties performed by dental assistants in the dental office.
The Dental Chairside Assistant diploma program is a college level program approved by as a vocational program under the Private Career Colleges Act, 2005.
Through comprehensive learning objectives and practical hands-on training in the realm of dental hygiene and oral car, graduates of this program will emerge expertly qualified to step into a career as a dental assistant in a variety of oral health settings, from private clinics to hospitals.
Areas of study will include dental terminology, tooth morphology, disease transmission, dental/medical emergencies, pharmacology, clinical chairside procedures, radiography, and orthodontics.
Graduates of the Dental Chairside Assistant diploma rogram will be encouraged to write the Certified Dental Assistants examination through the Ontario Dental Nurses and Dental Assistants Association to become a Certified Dental Assistant (CDA). Successful graduates will also complete the Healing Arts Radiation Protection Act Module (HARP) and become certified to take and develop X-rays.

The program’s duration is 26 weeks, including a two week job placement in a clinical setting.
Students who graduate from the Dental Chairside Assistant diploma program with a 70% average or better will be encouraged to continue studying for an additional 13 weeks and write a test to receive Intra-Oral Dental Assistant certification, meaning they will be able to work directly with patients as a Level II dental assistant.

Students in the Dental Chairside Assistant diploma program are eligible for up to five different funding options, including the Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP), Employment Insurance, Second Career Payment Plans and even loans facilitated by us.
